Digital solutions for copy services
A copy service lives on volume and thin margins: a few cents per page, sharp peaks during exams, USB sticks from everywhere and users who expect to order from their phone. Every friction at the counter costs, and so does every miscounted page.
KERN-IT has supported CIACO, the cooperative of UCLouvain, and DUC for more than ten years in the digitisation of their copy service: self-service kiosks, counting tied to the till, syllabus portal, mobile shop, screens and fleet supervision across several sites. We turned it into an offer for copy services, libraries, campuses and neighbourhood print shops.

Our solutions for the copy service
Self-service kiosks
Badge, USB stick or mobile order, secure session, printing and payment without a counter. Details on our self-service print kiosk page.
Counting and supervision
A unit connected to each copier counts the pages produced and passes the amount to the till. The fleet of kiosks and copiers is monitored and updated from a central station.
Mobile shop and portal
Order a print run from a phone, at any hour, pay online and collect at the counter; lecturers upload their syllabi to a portal, students prepare their list. Read the mobile-first copy service use case.
What changes for the operator
Shorter queues at the counter
Simple prints go through self-service; the counter handles binding, posters and professional runs.
Exact figures
Pages produced, pages cashed, volumes per machine and per hour: the same truth for the till, the accounts and paper purchasing.
Orders outside opening hours
The mobile shop receives documents in the evening and at the weekend; production is smoothed, the customer comes to collect.
A service that holds up under peaks
Kiosks that carry on without a network, screens that explain, a supervised fleet: exam season stops being frightening.
PrintCore for the copy service
All these building blocks come together in PrintCore, our print shop management platform: web-to-print shop, quotes, orders, production, stock, shipping and invoicing, whose copy service side comes directly from this experience. PrintCore is available on an all-inclusive monthly lease or as a white-label product in your colours, and is adjusted to your operations.

Frequently asked questions
A copy service whose copiers, kiosks, till and online shop are tied into one system: the document arrives by USB stick, phone or portal, pages are counted on the machine, the amount reaches the till without re-keying and the operator follows the activity in real time.
No. We connect your existing copiers: reading the counters when the manufacturer exposes them, a counting unit when it exposes nothing. Replacing a machine then happens at the pace of your fleet, not of our project.
It stays. Each print is passed to it with its amount. If your till cannot receive anything, we offer a link to your accounting or PrintCore, which includes invoicing and PEPPOL e-invoicing.
A pilot kiosk with counting and the till link starts at €15,000 and takes 6 to 10 weeks. A complete copy service (kiosks, counting, mobile shop, screens, supervision) ranges between €35,000 and €80,000, rolled out in stages over 3 to 6 months. Our ranges are detailed on the software development cost page.
